It’s been another busy week in AR+VR! In addition to keeping you up-to-date on the top AR+VR news, funding activity, and launch announcements, here are there three stories you need to know: AWE EU announcements, Macy’s VR furniture rollout and 1.3M Quests in 2019.

AWE wrapped up its third annual European conference with a ton of announcements coming out of this year’s event including the launch of the Open AR Cloud organization (OARC), the commercial release of Vuzix Blade this November, new enterprise AR research data from PTC and more.

Meanwhile, Macy’s announced that it has partnered with Marxent to bring VR to furniture sales in 70 Macy’s stores nationwide. Macy’s tested the technology in three pilot stores and found that VR-influenced furniture sales increased by more than 60% versus non-VR furniture sales and decreased returns to less than 2%.

Finally, SuperData Research released new VR forecasts including projections on the Oculus Quest which is expected to launch late 2019. SuperData expects the Quest standalone headset will outsell the PC-tethered Rift by a factor of 3 to 1 in its launch year — over 1.3 million units in 2019 alone.
