Mobile AR applications for manufacturing, maintenance and training scenarios are very classical topics in the augmented reality world. However, why is it so hard to deploy solutions for real productive use cases? Varying lighting conditions, reflections and dynamic scene changes make the visual tracking of objects in industrial augmented reality scenarios a challenging task. An easy setup and deployment process is also needed to create a beneficial value for AR applications. We are about to close the gap between prove-of-concept demonstrators and deployable augmented reality solutions for industrial scenarios with our recently launched VisionLib-SDK. Relying on CAD-data for object tracking is not a pain, but a huge gain for the tracking robustness and also for an easy setup process. We demonstrate some typical service and maintenance applications and show how model-based tracking techniques can be applied.
